On top of the full editor, presentation mode adds visibility actions, viewport animation, audio narration, speaker notes, and live presentation capabilities.

Included Diagram Editor Features

Presentation mode includes the complete diagram editor. All standard features are available for building the diagrams that your presentations animate.

Core Concepts

Understanding these concepts helps you create effective presentations.

Creating Your First Presentation

Follow these steps to create a simple animated presentation from an existing diagram.

Working with Steps

The step panel in the right menu provides full control over your presentation structure.

Visibility Actions

Control how elements appear and disappear with four visibility action types.

Initially-Hidden Elements

Use the Reveal and Unreveal buttons to control which elements are visible. These two buttons work at every step, including the base state.

Viewport Animation

Each step can have a viewport position that controls what part of the diagram is visible and at what zoom level.

Playback Configuration

Configure how your presentation plays in the viewer.

Exit Animation Types

Choose what happens after the final step completes:

Poster Mode

Poster mode displays a static frame with optional title and subtitle before playback starts.

Step Overlay

Display step titles and descriptions during playback to provide context.

Overlay Settings

  • Show Step Overlay: Enable or disable the overlay
  • Overlay Position: Choose from top-left, top-centre, bottom-left, or bottom-centre

The overlay shows the current step's name and description, updating as each step plays.

Speaker Notes

Add speaker notes to each step to guide presenters during live delivery.

Audio Narration

Add audio narration to individual steps for self-paced learning or recorded walkthroughs.

Live Presentations

Present directly from NeoArc Studio with a separate audience display and presenter controls.

Tag Filtering

Control element visibility based on tags at each step.

If your diagram uses tags (labels assigned to elements), you can show or hide tagged elements at specific steps. This is useful for:

  • Showing different layers (infrastructure, application, data)
  • Filtering by team or domain
  • Progressive disclosure of complexity

Set tag filters in the step properties to control which tags are visible at that step.

Accessibility

Presentation mode respects user accessibility preferences.

Playback Speed

Users can adjust playback speed (0.5x, 1x, 2x, etc.) to match their reading pace. Slower speeds give more time to absorb complex information; faster speeds suit familiar material.

Standalone Presentation Files

Presentations can be saved as standalone .presentation.json files. Right-click on the canvas and select Create Presentation to generate a new standalone file. This enables multiple independent presentations from a single diagram, each with its own steps and configuration.

Viewer Behaviour

When you publish a diagram with presentation steps, the viewer displays tabs for available views. Standalone presentations linked to a diagram also appear as additional tabs in the published viewer.

Presentation-Only Mode

Enable Presentation Only in the configuration to hide the Diagram and Infographic tabs in the published viewer. Viewers see only the presentation with no option to switch views.

Best Practices

Create effective presentations by following these guidelines.
