How to Create an Animated Presentation

Step-by-step guide to creating animated presentations with step-based visibility actions, audio narration, viewport animation, and speaker notes in NeoArc Studio.

Goal

Create an animated, step-by-step presentation diagram that reveals information progressively, complete with visibility actions, viewport transitions, and speaker notes. The finished presentation runs in the published viewer with manual step navigation.

Step 1: Create a New Diagram

Step 2: Switch to Presentation Mode

Step 3: Add Elements to the Canvas

Add the shapes, text, icons, and connectors that make up your presentation content. Place all elements on the canvas at their initial positions before configuring animation steps.

Step 4: Add Presentation Steps

Step 5: Configure Visibility Actions

Visibility actions control how elements appear and disappear at each step. There are 4 visibility action types across two categories.

Step 6: Record or Import Audio

Add audio narration to individual steps so the presentation plays back with spoken commentary.

Step 7: Add Viewport Animation

The viewport is locked by default to prevent accidental pan and zoom changes. To set a per-step viewport, click the Viewport button (anchor icon) in the control panel to unlock it. Pan and zoom to frame the relevant portion of your diagram, then lock the viewport again. When the presentation plays, the viewport animates smoothly between step positions.

Step 8: Add Speaker Notes

Step 9: Save as a Standalone Presentation

Presentation diagrams are saved with the .presentation.json extension. A single source diagram supports multiple presentations, each stored as a separate .presentation.json file linked to the same base diagram.

Step 10: Embed in a Documentation Page
