Desktop App Setup

NeoArc Studio is a desktop application for Windows. This guide covers downloading, installing, and configuring the application.

Download

Download NeoArc Studio from the Microsoft Store. The installation requires no administrator privileges and runs entirely in user space.

Installation

Click Install in the Microsoft Store. Windows handles the installation automatically. Once complete, launch NeoArc Studio from the Start Menu or by clicking Open in the Store.

First Launch

When you first launch NeoArc Studio, you'll see a welcome screen prompting you to choose a folder for your workspace.

Click Choose Folder and select a location. This can be:

• An existing Git repository (recommended)
• A new empty folder
• Any folder on your filesystem

Setting Up Your Workspace

After selecting a folder, NeoArc presents the architecture directory selection. Choose which directories to enable for your project:

• Content Foundry - Publishable documentation sites
• Architecture Views - Enterprise architecture viewpoints
• Domain & Business Architecture - Business domains and processes
• Data Architecture - Data assets and models
• Application & Integration Architecture - APIs and integrations
• Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture - Cloud and infrastructure
• Operating Model & Strategy - Operating models
• Governance - ADRs and policies

Select the directories relevant to your work and click Save. NeoArc creates the folder structure and you're ready to start.

Recommended: Use a Git Repository

For best results, create your workspace inside a Git repository. This enables:

• Version control for all your documentation
• Code review for documentation changes
• Branching and merging for collaborative editing
• Full audit trail of changes

Opening an Existing Workspace

To open a workspace you've previously created:

Application Settings

Access application settings through the settings option in the application.

Updating

NeoArc Studio updates automatically through the Microsoft Store. When an update is available, Windows will download and install it according to your Store update settings.

Updates preserve your workspaces and settings. Your documentation is stored in your workspace folder, not in the application.
